Anything can happen when Strange Potatoes take the stage. There's always surprises.
The trio that makes up Strange Potatoes is….

Born and raised in the Toronto, Ontario, suburb of Scarborough, John cut his teeth as a guitarist and songwriter fronting the band Legacy playing the Toronto New Wave club scene while still in his teens.  After switching to bass guitar, John founded the unique THE LIVE KARAOKE BAND which also produced the partnership ESP, a small company dedicated to writing and producing commercial music for retail advertising.  A career in radio and TV broadcasting brought him to Peterborough where he was also a member of Central Ontario's WOLF 101.5 FM Howlers Band.  It was a move to  Collingwood that set the events in motion for him to become apart of  the zany circus called Strange Potatoes.

Derek hails from Bolton, Ontario where he used to lug his acoustic guitar around with him most days.  After busking for several years as a part time job while in university, he started playing some solo shows in Ottawa.  After moving to Toronto he found some musical fun with a Celtic flavoured crew called "The Picket Line" fronted by Newfoundland's Kellie Walsh.  Eventually, Derek wound up teaching in Wasaga Beach and managed to meet fellow Potatoes John and John - the rest, as they say, is indeed, history.

Growing up on a farm in Stayner Ontario, John Miller forged a love of music at a young age. A true renaissance man, John a computer technician and a home builder he is equally as comfortable analyzing computer programs as he his swinging a hammer.  A former member of local Georgian Triangle legends Park Bench and the Mickies, he has also performed in rock bands, dance bands, reggae groups, bluegrass bands and Jazz ensembles. John is a multi-instrumentalist featured on penny whistle, harmonica, guitar, squeeze box, and violin.
